I'm sure most people are familiar with the director M. Night Shamalan ((made Sixth sense)). And this movie I want to bring up today was an earlier movie he made that surprisingly didn't get much credit as it deserved. Its called Unbreakable and happens to be one of my favorite movies. It was released in 2000 and of course everyone was expecting another great movie that will follow M Night's last smash hit. But instead it was herd that people came out feeling disappointed and cheated. A person even yelled out in the theater "This sucks!" at the screen ((was that necessary)). Most people now days, not ALL people but most ((especially my generation)) have a hard time finding a deeper meaning to anything. What I see in this movie is a selfless nobody who is struggling with his marriage and has a son who constantly looking up to him a man(named David))who has everyday problems in his life and cant think of how he can make any difference in the world and be special in any way. Which happens to be most people in this life and can attract a certain crowd. Then things happen in the story that makes him realize that he IS different, like how he has never been sick or hurt and even how he was the only survivor on a train crash. A man he has never met named Alex Ross told him that there are two types of people in this world, the one's that break, and the ones that are unbreakable. Throughout,Alextry's to tell him that he is not living the life he was meant to.((basically telling him that hes meant to be a "super hero")) That's why David feels so depressed with his life, as if something was missing. David of course thinks Alex has a mental illness and trys to avoid him. But for some reason Alex's words haunt him and deep down he wants to believe he's right, little did he know he was. This movie is famous for its sudul meanings and moments. One thing that I love is that there is no special effects in this movie. I think that's a reason why people were angry because they wanted to see a bunch of action packed effects. What they don't get is Unbreakable is a movie about a man just finding out who he was and meant to be. His "powers" are not all exaggerated and colorful, this movie is more close to REAL than any super hero movie you'll ever see. Its true and beautiful and has many different metaphoric meanings behind it, not just a movie about a cool super hero with a ridiculous outfit. This movie I'm sure you will understand if you sit through all the quiet parts and slow moments and actually LISTEN, you might find yourself inspired by this movie. RATE: FIVE STAR *****
