"My love for my Joker is stronger than their madhouse walls"- Harley Quin
Harley Quinn, real name Harleen Quinzel is the sidekick to the Batman's arch nemeses, The Joker.
This is her story.....
Harleen, shes a beautiful psychiatric model student and receiving high grades in college, she is also a dedicated gymnast winning a scholarship to Gotham City University. While researching the lunatics at Arkham Asylum((insane asylum)), she becomes unusually fascinated with one particular. She then ambitiously volunters and works very hard to qualify to analyze him or even be in the same room. It took three months for her to finally talk to him. In her first session with the Joker he unfortunately finds out that she's a newbie and thinks that she'll "be easy". But while talking there were times were The Joker was struck with surprise with how different she was from the others, there's more to this girl than meets the eye, we know it and so did Joker. Through one of their unusually conversations the Joker smiles and blurts out "Ya know!, I like what I've heard about you sweets, especially your name Harleen Quinzel....hmmm, mix it around a bit and you get Harley Quinn!" ((like the play on words Harlequin)) She not really impressed with his comment, showing on her face that shes herd it before. But the Joker casually tells her that it just puts a smile on his face. Through many sessions the Joker started to work his manipulation in trying to gain sympathy by making up a sad childhood story, which she bought. Then, to add to it he would somehow sneak roses into her office from time to time with a note attached that said "Come down and see me sometime - J". This was the second phase to his manipulation, by seducing her subtly. Then to top it all off he would make up stories trying to make himself sound like the victim in this Batman feud, and saying that Batman isn't a hero but a big bully that doesn't get "the joke". This makes Harleen a little angry at Batman and makes more pity for the Joker, all this information makes her feel special and she thinks she understands him. But he wasn't all sweet and giggly with Harleen, at times he would just snap and would attempt to hurt her, but would casually say he was just kidding. Then a very significant and important scene is when he throws her down on the table and starts to choke her for no reason, and her face is doing nothing but smiling. This only shows that she is just fascinated with every thing he does. And these weird mood swings just makes her all the more obsessed.
After going through all of this she knew that she is in love. Theres a scene where it shows the Joker talking and she's supposed to be "taking notes" when shes actually sketching the Joker and drawing little hearts next to his face, then the Batmans face and "X'ing" it out. Some time later the Joker escapes Arkham and Harleen is devastated and scared for her love, she's got this weird reasoning that the Joker is like a "innocent child that just wants everyone to laugh at his joke". A few months later the Joker gets thrown into Arkham again all beat up and bloody by Batman. She is furious at Batman and sad for her love. So after all of this, she finally decides she wants to do something about this, something to help her beloved Joker. So she goes and fetches a costume and some makeup, and steals some supplies from a store. Then she sneaks past the guards and breaks free Joker. In the middle of all this Joker says something like "Lets go Doc!". and Harleen replies with "Nuh-uh-uh pudd'in, say helooo to ya' new and improved HARLEY QUINN!!" Her New York accent is much more deep and higher pitched just showing her craziness take its toll. and in this moment revealing her costume, she hit her first ultimate point of insanity. Joker, after surprise and a little dumbfounded but impressed then laughs hysterically and follows her as Harley totally takes care of breaking him free. And thus starts their iconic, addictive, lovably harsh"Mad Love".
