My observation

Today in a class of mine, my teacher asked each of us to make a piece of paper that said "I'm Awesome" for the front title. Then he told us to tape it on our backs. He announced that we would all stand and write something positive on each others backs and wear that piece of paper for the rest of the day without looking at it. Well I noticed before we started the project that some of the people's faces were very excited and some very nervous. The excited ones of course were smiling and had a slight jittery energy in their movements, which means they were anticipating to do it and excited. And the others had a nervousness in their eyes and were either biting their lips or being really tense. Some suddenly started to act kind of awkward behavior and would quickly look around the room to see other peoples reactions. Those people of course ((and sadly)) have low self esteem and were nervous about the thoughts of others.
Which made me realize something, their are a lot more comments of negative then their are positives in our daily life's. Especially in this generation were "the new thing" is cutting other people down to make you look like a bigger person. Think about it, when people gather around to gossip, they never talk about a persons good quality's but their flaws. And the media is definitely not helping the situation, because all it talks about is what beauty is supposed to look like and the things you need to do to become this way. Peoples minds are now so accustomed and so use to the negative that hearing a compliment is such a big deal. Like when a friend of mine finally ready the notes on her back someone had left the word "cute", and you would have thought she won the lottery. She freaked out over this little comment, and she didn't even know who it was by.
And made me notice that she had maybe never thought of herself that way, I mean how are you ever gonna know if people dont tell you. I always thought she was cute but I had never said it. We never even compliment on just the "little" things about people that we may like, but when it comes to flaws, most seem to jump all over that. It's wonders what you can do to people when you compliment them on just "something positive" about them. I remember reading my notes and I felt my self esteem raise so much and I felt so warm inside((sorry for the corniness)). So I'm gonna try and I hope you'll do it with me, to be a little more positive to my loved ones, and EVEN MY ENIMIES. Because you never know if that one compliment could save a persons life.
